Journey Programs offer you an opportunity to focus on your own personal and spiritual growth in a safe and welcoming environment. You will have a chance to share your ideas and hear others’ reflections on the core topics explored.  The Journey program is a great opportunity for personal growth and to build friendships and connections with people in the Rochester area and beyond.

People who have participated in past Journey programs say:

  • “The Journey has helped me make God a part of my everyday life—not just
    at church on Sunday.”
  • “I appreciated the structure to this program. It helped me personally in my marriage and in building friendships.”
  • “This program has helped me feel closer to my spouse and given us a chance to connect on a deeper level. It has been helpful, reminding me of what is important in life and to be
grateful for the things I have.”
  • “It is so helpful being in a group— connecting with people and feeling like you are encouraging each other
    on the journey of life.”
  • “The program helped me to feel more part of the community and more integrated.”

2010 JOURNEY PROGRAM - "Living Courageously"

The Oak Arbor Church is offering its third annual Journey Campaign.  This year's program is called, “Living Courageously.”  The program explores the Elijah story of the Old Testament, an ancient
tale of heroism and adventure.  Again and again, Elijah stands against evil when his downfall seems certain – and yet again and again, the Lord pulls him through and helps him re-establish the worship of Jehovah in Israel. Elijah’s story is our own. His strengths are ours, and so are his weaknesses. Each time the Lord gives Elijah a miracle, it tells of a miracle He performs in our lives, allowing us to turn from selfishness and find the courage to transform our spiritual lives and prepare for heaven.

What is Living Courageously?
Living Courageously is a seven week spiritual growth program where participants will make a commitment to work on spiritual growth. There are three opportunities as part of this program:

  1. Worshipping together on Sunday
  2. Participating in a discussion group
  3. Individual weekly reading

The Sunday sermons, weekly readings, and small groups will be coordinated around the focus of Living Courageously. Join us as we experience the power of life change together.

Program Focus
We believe that the Bible is God speaking to us through literal stories, parables and a deeper spiritual meaning.  The literal stories are metaphors for our spiritual development. In this program, we will explore the story of Elijah from the Old Testament and look at how it speaks to us about living courageously by following the laws of God.

About Small Groups or Discussion Groups
The groups are a key component of this campaign. The groups will provide a chance to get to know others, talk about the concepts of the program and the Sunday message, and get support in applying these tools to your life. There will be a variety of groups to choose from that will meet at different times and locations to suit your needs.

Why Participate?

  • Find tools to strengthen your spiritual walk.
  • Meet new people and connect with a spiritual community.
  • Deepen your connection with God and other people, and from that, find strength to live a more satisfying and peaceful life.

When does is happen?

The kick-off event for the 2010 Living Courageously journey program is Saturday, Feb 6. The program will end on Sunday, March 21.

How much does it cost?

The enrollment fee is $15 per person ($30 per couple).  Cost should not be a determinant of participation. Please speak to any of the team members if this is an issue for you (or someone you know) to pay the full amount.

How do I get involved?

If you would like to know how to get involved, please contact one of our core team members. We are fully committed to providing a fulfilling experience for you.
